40k Death Guard - Part 2

I've been painting fairly consistently over the past week or so and have made a fair bit of progress on my Death Guard army for Warhammer 40,000.

Following on from Part 1, here's the additional progress so far.

Up first, the big boss, a Daemon Prince of Nurgle, and his flying entourage of Foetid Bloat-drones.

I deeply dislike the actual Nurgle Daemon Prince model, and finding nothing to proxy or replace it that took my fancy, I headed to my very deep and venerable Bitz Box.  The Daemon Prince is the plundered and kit-bashed result.  There is some VERY old plastic in there.

While of course I constructed what I could find that fit together OK, and filled the gaps with green-stuff, I also had a plan in mind.  I wanted to make a 40k version of the mutant character from the Judge Dredd comics known as The Judge Child (Owen Krysler).

I've yet to name this Daemon of course, but something along the lines of "Pur'Iudex" might be appropriate.

I figure he was a marine at one point and has mutated into something akin to a plague fly.

Anyway, onto the Foetid Bloat-drones.  I LOVE these models by the way, although the list I'm building probably won't have room for them.  They're really fun to paint though and relatively easy.  I love the bulky flesh sort of hanging out the back...

Heavy support comes from the Plagueburst Crawlers.  I only have one done so far and will be getting probably a couple more.  They seem to me to be extremely efficient for the points they cost.  I've chosen to fit the plaguespitter sponson weapons as these vehicles will inevitably get charged and they need some decent defensive fire.

Aha!  The poxwalkers (plague zombies) are next.  Again, fun to paint but my intended build is unlikely to see them on the table.  That said, a pox-horde could be fun to do at some point, and they may see some service in Kill Team.

The HQ choices next.  First up the Lord of Contagion.  A really nice model this.  I'm still not convinced about the green fire though...its a bit bright for the overall tone of the model.

Here's the Noxious Blightbringer.  I love this model - so animated and well posed.

The Malignant Plaguecaster brings some much needed psyker action to the party.  Again - green smoke.  Should it be dirty brown?  Not sure.

Here's a Biologis Purifier.  I think to make the most of him I'd need to run core units with lots of blight grenades, which I'm not planning to do.  He was really tough to paint too - with all those jars.  I tried to paint them as liquid-filled glass but really didn't like the effect I'd created so I bailed out and overpainted them in brass.

And lastly a Foul Blightspawn, because why not?  He's got a cool plague sprayer thing, and I think he'll make it into the final tallyband build...

I did have some success with the glass on his tank too - at least it wasn't so bad that I needed to paint over it.

Ah...now onto the Plague Marines themselves. Only one unit so far, and I may not invest in more at this stage, because...

...I'm going mainly for Blightlord Terminators in the build.  I've got another five to do so far, and these still need basing.  They look like they'll be rock hard in combat.

This is my favourite model among the terminators.  Clearly his armour isn't up to the job of containing his prowess...

More to follow...
